A relative has a diagnosis of myasthenia or myasthenic sydrome. The
diagnosis is tentative, pending results of some bloodwork
(antibodies). His progress is extremely quick and dramatic. He cannot
really breathe on his own, his pulse is low and has dropping blood
pressure. 8 weeks of hospitalization, given steroids and myasthenia
drugs but no improvement at all, in fact, he is getting worse.
Now he has pneumonia and is receiving antibiotics, to complicate it
all.

No underlying cancer has been found. What are your thoughts on this?

He is an otherwise very healthy man in his early 60s.

Thank you.

If he does not respond to mestinon, tenselon, prydistigmine, etc. he
probably does not have myasthenia, however it is not an easy disease to
diagnose. Also I did not know MG could cause PB to fall. I would get second
opinion.

I was told, in 1979, that Mestinone was outdated, and ineffective.
Sure didn't help me.

Neat-o! I've been on Mestinon(sic) since 1961, and it still works.
