My Dad got into Breathing Crisis in Sep Last and was in ICU on
ventilator for more than 3 months. He then passed away due to a stupid
goof up of the Hospital Nurse feeding Idlis "Hard to swallow Indian
Dish" to him - He chocked on the same (had a Tracheostomy done) and has
cardiac arrest..was in coma for >2 weeks and passed away in Dec 2005.
I had to fight the hospital people to give him plasmapherisis...they
did so reluctantly after lots of pressure.
When Plasmapherisis was done he immediately improved. and again went
into breathing arrest after a few days. Again Plasmapheris was done and
he was out of the ICU. Next day the hospital people slaughtered him.
YOU KNOW WHAT - HOSPITALS AND DOCTORS EVERYWHERE - GO SLOW ON TREATMENT
- SO THAT THEY MAKE MONEY. AT LEAST IN INDIA THIS PRACTICE IS WIDE
SPREAD.
So somebody tell me - What's the best thing a med can do to pull back a
person from breathing crisis? What are the best practices in US and
other advanced countries.
Kindly let me know - i want to sue the hospital.
